Urulaikizhlangu Podimass

URULAIKIZHLANGU PODIMASS….Urulaikizhlangu meaning potato and Podimass is like a quick stir fry. My mom usually makes this as a side for rasam or puli kuzhambu, but I eat this with puli kuzhambu as side ;) Such a simple, quick and light dish.

You Will Need:

2 tbsp of Oil
1/2 Tsp of Mustard Seeds
1/2 tsp Urad Dal
Few Torn Curry Leaves
4 Medium Sized Boiled Potatoes
2 Large Onions, Sliced
4 Slit Green Chillies
2 1/2 tbsp of Gram Flour
Salt to taste
Some Finely Chopped Coriander Leaves

The Cooking:

Crumble the boiled potatoes and sprinkle some salt and mix. Keep aside.

Heat a pan with oil and crackle mustard, urad dal and curry leaves. Now add the slit chillies and sliced onions and stir till the onions are translucent. Stir in the gram flour on medium heat and cook for 5 mins stirring continually. Add little salt and tumble in the potatoes. Toss well on medium low heat and let it cook for 10 mins. Finally sprinkle the coriander and give a final toss.

IMPORTANT POINTERS:
  • Keep the heat low when adding the gram flour, if high the gram flour will burn.

Happy Cooking!
